Bei Dir

(Andy Susemihl)

Bleierne Glieder

Will mich nicht ergeben

Doch der Weg zurück zu Dir

Ist lang und steinig

Durch die Fremde, ohne Liebe...

Immer wieder...

Bin ich bei Dir

Bin ich am leben

Find ich mich wieder

Sing ich von übermorgen

Bin ich bei Dir, fühl ich mich geborgen...

Long cold Winter

(Andy Susemihl - Supermihl & Superfriends)

We’re living in a prison made of hype

In memory of the real thing we kick into overdrive

And dance the dance of high end politics

Turning into faceless derelicts

Welcome to the last course of the feast

Where the loudest live to steal the hard earned breadcrumbs of the least

Where empathy is just an empty phrase

And peace and love just vanished in the craze

And the world it keeps on turning

But it’s turning inside out

And everything we stood for seems to suffocate in fraud

And the barons play it easy

Still advertising fear

And it’s a long cold winter out here

I still commence to pray for love & light

As long as we keep walking through this never ending night

This omnipresent fake and make belief

Those who win will always spell out history

But the winners are not friendly

In fact they hate your guts

They rearrange your sanity and slowly drive you nuts

And the barons take it easy

Still after all those years

And it’s a long cold winter out here

And the wind is getting colder

In this desperate part of town

But the servants of the system slightly turn the truth around

Cause the system is not friendly

In fact it hates your guts

It drowns you in  insanity and slowly drives you nuts

But the vessels of our patience

Are filled to overflow

Don’t want no long cold winter no more

Human I am

(Andy Susemihl - Supermihl & Superfriends)

On a warm and sunny September morning
I believe I saw this light on your face
And I felt so rich for what I was given
That someone like you has come my way

Human I am
For all that feels real
You make my world
You make me feel

Human I am
Within your name
You are my painting
And I am your frame

When the wind on your way is growing colder
And the light seems to fade from your grace
Just move on and remember our moments
When everything around you was standing still

Human I am
Human with all these stupid mistakes I know
And the fame I’m longing for
But when your world comes tumbling down
I swear I’ll be there cause
Human I am…

Human I am
For all that I like
For everything good
To light up my mind

Human I am
Within your game
You are my address
And I am your name

City of Love (Edit)

(Andy Susemihl)

Tell me - where did I go? Down on my knees – praying To catch the dawn and let my day go And what did I do? Darkest nights I made it through Waiting, talisman around my neck Show me the reason, if it isn’t for love If it isn’t for all of us You drown all my tears in the morning haze You smile at me while you reflect my gaze A child of the summer in the City of Love Help me – I don’t want to leave Laying in my bed – dreaming Of a place I’ll surely find But when I awake No one’s here to testify Show me What is the value – if it isn’t for love If it isn’t for all of us You drown all my tears in the morning haze You smile at me while you reflect my gaze A child of the summer in the City of Love C 2001

Menace to Society

(Andy Susemihl)

I don’t want to say that I’m sorry I just want to say that I’ve tried I don’t need to pick up the pieces This sentiment has died There was no need to understand We gave it in your hands We were so close we thought That it would be the way Share a little sight of your silver Share a little sight of your gold Shed a little light on our sorrows I shiver when I look At all those mansions of pretence A world that makes no sense And as the walls were built I felt that it would never be the same I’m in a cave and time goes by Still searching for the reason why You wanted me right from the start Away away from our hearts Man I can’t rest as time turns dead Still living in those days we had You’ve been my sun – my only friend I went away away selling my care Little by little it will get you Little by little you will find The air is getting just a bit colder Coming down with rain It's been so easy for a while For someone with a smile But when it started pouring all day long I knew it was my time

Vril 7

(Andy Susemihl)
From Album "Supermihl & Superfriends"

Things we can not leave behind

(Andy Susemihl)
These are the kind of things we can not leave behind
This is the wealth of all excuses in our mind
This is the life that we deserve most probably
In fact we close our eyes cause we don't want to see

This is the kind of noise that makes us def and mute
We stand in line and watch our bros turn into brutes
This is the billion dollar lie most certainly
In fact we are so close that I can feel your grief

Higher - we got to feel the rain inside

These are the kind of acts that put us where we are
Our sad and phoney observation of it all
And all the peace and love that we don't want to give
Compassion waits we live the life we have to live

Higher - we got to feel the rain inside

And after all they heard our begging for control
The new department for the regimented souls
Who are you governors or presidents or God?
In fact I don't know but this world is getting odd

Fallen

(Andy Susemihl)

Stuck inside a world gone mad I hold you Just to find out what it is That you do Every day of all my life I saved up Caught within this lonely quest For make up And now that life goes on Could this be my calling? My son maybe it’s too late Maybe I have fallen For you Every time I check my head I can see The part of me that died When you first broke free The resignation from a game That killed me And now that life goes on Could this be my calling? My son maybe it’s too late Maybe I have fallen For you

Gordon Brown

(The Unterschicht)

This is actually a funny story...the lyrics to "Gordon Brown" are about the archetype of today's no name guy...when we came up with the song in 2006 nobody knew about Gordon Brown...at the end of 2006 we found out that Gordon probably will be the next premier of Great Britain...what a coincidence...it also adds a completely new facette to the meaning of the lyrics..but check for yourself.

I say Do it to me now Cause I’m the victim From space The color of my skin Might look different I mean I wouldn’t be around If it was not me And I know That people everywhere Make fun of me And my name is Gordon Brown I keep waiting for the answer And this face is not my face Your adrenaline works wonders Dead time Screaming oh my god I have to hurry A whole life Devoted to the Chance to aim for glory Hello it’s me I’m calling from the world That you gave me I say Fool me like you do It makes me feel good I wait In television land To find the real God

Martyr

(Bangalore Choir)

Mornin light awakes my eyes only closed what seems a minute Malignified I shake inside lonely road dust gleams within it A filth upon my hands so dry of all the human stain still I'm drawn by sands to cry love falls to ruin and pain   I limp the walk of adding guilt to what was once our home flints of rock gash in my pelts through cuts that lead to bone my callous act of slaying feels to be askew such malice now I'm praying wheels me back to you  I am your Martyr      can i breathe with you again? I am your 0Martyr      belief removes my sin I am your Martyr      blame everything on me I am your Martyr      of all thats happening   verse3. Someway must be found  for you to forgive me Lucidity has costs in al that we both see a merging reverence tainted while wicked maidens cry with thousand left to save you with my heart I try

Odyssey

(7-9-7)

Goddess in her heaven Queen on her throne Forever a lady No one would ever own Spirit of a shadow Spirit of a stone Spirit of the moment Never letting go And I believe she’s all I asked for And I believe she’s what I got She took me by the hand She helped understand She took my fears away Gave me purpose and the day A simple question asked The moment came at last And I believe she’s all I asked for And I believe she’s what I got And I believe she came to rescue To justify the end She lives inside my dreams Wants me to redeem The sorrows in my eyes Trade them for this very life I know I’m not alone My lady leads me home And I believe she’s all I asked for And I believe she’s what I got And I believe she came to rescue To justify the end C 2001

Get me to the World on Time

(7-9-7)

The title song of the first 7-9-7 album... You can check the whole album at http://cdbaby.com/cd/797music. Also go to www.7-9-7.com for more info

The river flows a while Until it stops and dies Diamonds are rusting Gone are my thoughts I had my faith in line Ever since you broke free Everything you made us see Get me to the world on time The sun it melts my brain The rivers all ran dry Somebody said love was a ghost Back in another time Ever since you broke free All I do is wait and see Smile and leave the world behind Push your story up my spine

Face of Pain

(7-9-7)

This song turned out to be a beautiful ballad I think. It was intended to be a blues song for a L.A. based blues band I was playing in for some time...but sometimes songs develop their own dynamics... You can check the whole album at http://cdbaby.com/cd/797music also go to www.7-9-7.com for more info.

A sense of time comes over me Ticking away Generations came to see But no one would stay A rendezvous under the stars On cold violent ground I don’t think that I am blind I can’t help but realize I look into your eyes I can see the rain I look into your face It’s the face of pain We use the well until we become Feathers of light Someday when the work is done After the night And the oldest souls will have their feast And leave us behind I don’t think that I am blind… I look into your eyes I can see the rain I look into your face It’s the face of pain

Silent Days

(Andy Susemihl)

Valentine was here today And gone without a sound Silent days have come my way Today I’ll stand my ground Without your love I’m on my own My heart has turned to stone I’ll cast it far into the sea I’ll cast it far and travel on I’ll find my way – Silent days I’ll find my way – Silent days To never move and travel far Is a journey of the heart Silent days have come my way In solemn waves I’ll start Without your love I’m on my own My heart has turned to stone I’ll cast it far into the sea I’ll cast it far and travel on I’ll find my way – Silent days I’ll find my way – Silent days Words: Chris Sainz Music: Andy Susemihl C 2001

New Year's Day

(The Unterschicht)
No need to tell you about this Song - made famous by the incredible U2...cool version though I believe...
check out www.theunterschicht.com
All is quiet on New Year's Day
A world in white gets underway
I want to be with you
Be with you night and day
Nothing changes on New Year's Day
On New Year's Day

I will be with you again
I will be with you again

Under a blood red sky
A crowd has gathered in black and white
Arms entwined, the chosen few
The newspapers says, says
Say it's true it's true...
And we can break through
Though torn in two
We can be one

I...I will begin again
I...I will begin again

Mad Professor - Mighty Red Distortion 1

(Andy Susemihl/Sound Sample)
This is a small sample of a Lead I've played with the Mighty Red Distortion Peadal by Mad Professor.
I've used it on most of the Lead work for the Unterschicht as well as on some 7-9-7 tracks.
It can go from "a little distorted" to " ......." (fill in your most brutal word) without getting on your nerves.
Great Pedal and a permanent Resident on my Pedal Board.

Green Blues

(Andy Susemihl)
Something I wrote in Los Angles about to leave for Europe.
It had to be a blues, because leaving the City of Angels was rather hard after making myself at home...
Green Blues

Oh baby...
It's been a long way home
Oh lady
The world has changed
while I was gone
I made it half way to the angels
They've been stomping on my blues

Oh baby
It's been the way to go
Oh darling
A lot of hopeless dreams I've sold
I tried to walk among the living
but they walk all over you

Oh baby
Can't you see the little boy is gone
Oh lady
He never would have made it home...

Soul

(The Unterschicht)
We wrote this song after the recent warfare in the middle east...the whole story is way more complex...these are our thoughts.
Soul

Every inch of you is perfect
And your looks are so amazing
You want it all just like you want me
Want to rule a world that hates you

You fill your words with higher meaning
And your way is so convincing
You take it all and I get nothing in return
I can see you with the eyes of the soul

Every look at you is blinding
But your stutter is revealing
When I lay my arms around you
I can see – I can feel
I don’t know you

But I can see you in my arms now
I can see you in my arms now
In a world so familiar
In a world - in a world we’ll find

I can see you
Shooting lies into my veins
I know you

On the outside
Smiling faces make believe
How you care

I can see you
I need shelter from the rain
Of lies

On the outside
Hungry faces crave the need
For life

I try to find out how to hurt you
Search the window of your fortune
To find out how much I adore you
To find out how it hurts to hurt you

Come around you crazy elder
Come around you crazy fucker
You’ve left me stranded by the roadside
You’ve found your home right on the state line

But everything you are is perfect
And your arguments are deadly
What you say
The way you move
How badly you want me to think
You’re right

The Riddle

(Andy Susemihl)
One of the best songs in pop music history I believe...there are probably a million cover versions out there...nevertheless I though it would be cool to do an acoustic Version of it...
i got two strong arms
blessings of babylon
with time to carry on
and try
for sins and alarms
so to america the brave
wise men save

near a tree by a river
there's a hole in the ground
where an old man of aran
goes around and around
and his mind is a beacon
in the veil of the night
for a strange kind of fashion
there's a wrong and a right
but he'll never, never fight over you

i got plans for us
nights in the scullery
and days instead of me
i only know what to discuss
of for anything but light
wise men fighting over you

it's not me you see
pieces of valentine
with just a song of mine
to keep from burning history
seasons of gasoline and gold
wise men fold

near a tree by a river
there's a hole in the ground
where an old man of aran
goes around and around
and his mind is a beacon
in the veil of the night
for a strange kind of fashion
there's a wrong and a right
but he'll never, never fight over you

i got time to kill
sly looks in corridors
without a plan of yours
a blackbird sings on bluebird hill
thanks to the calling of the wild
wise mens child

near a tree by a river
there's a hole in the ground
where an old man of aran
goes around and around
and his mind is a beacon
in the veil of the night
for a strange kind of fashion
there's a wrong and a right
but he'll never, never fight over you

Change

(7-9-7)
One of the very first 7-9-7 Songs co-written by my Buddy and long Time Bass Player Michael Swanson.
How can it be this way?
To learn to love
It's like dancing in the Light
Naked in the Sun

Her Skin brushing mine
And we were tasting Time
Give me Rays
Send me Waves of Light & Love

Can she make the Difference in my Life?

Find a Place to Rest
Unknowing we'll pass the Test
As the others all become
The Puppets on Parade

Sense a Change in Life
Glimpse the Reasons why
Taste the Change
Rearrange my Point it's Time

Can she make the Difference in my Life?

Light pours down on me
And I'm caught in a motion
It's like a wheel spinning
It gains for everyone

Tasting Change

She's got a single thing in mind

(The Burbanks)
One of the Songs we've recorded for a country project in 2001.
You can't find the Words to break it to me
Cause she always was the gentle Kind
She's hopin' I hear it from a friend somewhere
She's hopin' I read between the lines
But it comes as no surprise
Cause she told me with her Eyes

So watch her untie the tie that binds
She's got a single Thing in Mind

She's already gone except in Body
It's just a matter now of Time
Well I should have seen the Storm Clouds gathering
But he who won't look is just as blind
So there's only me to blame
When my Woman drops my Name

So watch her untie the tie that binds
She's got a single Thing in Mind

Friend of mine

(The Cracks appear)
The Cracks appear was the band that later turned into 7-9-7 and we already played some of the songs we still play today.
Friend of mine was recorded at the Music Grinder, Hollywood, CA.
Mike Swanson on bass (also the first 7-9-7 bass player) and Andre Labelle on drums (Vinnie Vincent, Kiss)...produced and recorded by Rudy Haeusermann.
Friend of mine

Don’t wrestle with your situation boy
Don’t wrestle with your observation of your lack of joy

Don’t wrestle with the fighting in the streets
Or the girl of your dreams, that you may never meet

Dreaming, believing, that you’ve got a chance
Dreaming, believing in the myth
Dreaming, believing, that you’ve got a chance
What in your life could be so wrong?

What if I say you’re a friend of mine
What if I say you’re inside my mind
What if I say you’re a friend of mine…….

Don’t wrestle with the karma you have made
Don’t tell me about your compilation of the things you hate

Don’t wrestle with the hand that holds you down
Or your hopes may die without ever being found

Dreaming, believing, that you’ve got a chance
Dreaming, believing in the myth
Dreaming, believing, that you’ve got a chance
What in your life could be so wrong?

What if I say you’re a friend of mine
What if I say you’re inside my mind
What if I say you’re a friend of mine…….

Träume

(Andy Susemihl)
Another attempt to write some pieces in German...good song I think.
Träume

In den Träumen...
Zeig mir die Seele
Tief im Nebel
Dein Gesicht
Vom Leben gezeichnet

Starke Seelen
Doch so verwundbar
Hilflos wie ein kleines Kind...

Und wir leben in den Träumen, in den Träumen, in der Nacht
Und wir leben in den Träumen, weil der Traum uns glücklich macht

Conviction

(Andy Susemihl feat. Bob Lazo)
Some of the Stuff I did with Bob during my 8 year stay in Los Angeles...
I was playing with Bob in a Band called "Every Man Jack" and we became friends over the years...a great Singer/Songwriter I think.
I don't even know when we did this...could have been sometimes in 1996-1997.

Conviction

In the middle of this game
You got dealt the one card
Maybe not the joker
But something to hold on
It's burning in your stomach
Pissing off your father
Your mother shook her finger

Destinations are all different
So you told them not to bother
You never be your brother
I think you are you
And you are beautiful

And in your face I see conviction
Wanting to succed
And in your eyes I see the depth
With the power of a dream

You like living in the center
Leaving for the weekend
Tightening your bookends
And days passing by
Situations never different
Just a little abstract
With a little subtract
Life is just a blue sky

And in your face I see conviction
Wanting to succed
And in your eyes I see the depth
With the power of a dream

Your mind is a piece of heaven
Greater than you might think
But it's your smile where I see conviction

Oh baby can't you see it's been a long time...

The Weight of the World

(Andy Susemihl feat. Bob Lazo)
A beautiful ballad with Bob Lazo...this one went through my head a lot over the years...we did it in 1996-1997 I believe and I really would love to re record the whole song in a more modern context one day because it's just a good one.

The Weight of the World

They say that nothing is free
And nothing is certain
Can be an eternity
When something is hurting

God tries to love you
But he falls down
Who do you turn to
When he's not around?

This is the darkness in your eyes
This is the weight of the world
This is the fun you could have had
This is the tumor in your head
This is the life you chose instead

And when you are hungry
You devour your meal
Got tired so easy
Maybe that's how you feel
When we try to hug you
You just turn around

This is the darkness in your eyes
This is the weight of the world
This is the fun you could have had
This is the tumor in your head
This is the life you chose instead

They say that nothing is easy
And nothing's for free

Holy Land

(Miracle Mile)
Well...I joined Miracle Mile right before they went into the studio to record "To burn together"...so all the material was already composed.
This is one of my contributions to the 2nd release "Journal of Mr Black" - great record I think.

Jon Ross: Vocals
Chris Werr: Drums
Michael Mallory: Bass
Andy Susemihl: Guitars

Holy Land

No one can take away the pain
Inside this maze there ain't no place
Protected from your rain

Can't fool the knowledge in my heart
Give me lies to save my pride
And tear our souls apart

I understand you came across this holy land
You serve the damned you want to take fate in your hands
Ignore my wish to sway in peace and mend my life
Ignore my wish for life

Take time undermine belief
Slowly walk towards your goal
Your words are kind and brief
Can't catch me cause I'm already gone
Speak the word and say it's true
I know these words are wrong

I understand you came across this holy land
You serve the damned you want to take fate in your hands
Ignore my wish to sway in peace and mend my life
Ignore my wish for life

Trip

Stalking
He's in the shadows, lurking there
Charming
No sanity but lots of flair

And in the bedroom of his mind
She's undressed
There's not a safe place she can hide
He's obsessed

Married
To a woman that he's never met
Bursting to buy her love with a hint of threat

You can never say goodbye
He's upset

If you resist him he'll deliver
Your regret

Smiling
With a slightly psycho look in his eye
Reaching
He will take her on his first try

And in the graveyard of his mind
He confessed
Gazing down into the pit
There she rests

Cry

(Miracle Mile)
I did 2 albums with this Malibu based prog rock band...
I have to say I had the time of my life recording these albums with dave & the boys...
You can get those records at http://www.pinchhit.com/PHwebsite/MiracleMile/
Cry

See the boy cry
And maybe you know
Maybe you feel
Them in your sun
See the boy cry

See the boy cry
Maybe you know
May you still feel
Facing your day

See the boy cry

See the man cry
Maybe you know
Can you still feel
Them in your side

See the boy cry

Spirits in my Head

(Andy Susemihl)
I've recorded this song I think in 1990-1991 on an 8 track recorder...
I haven't heard this stuff for more than 10 years now but I still dig the solo part...

Lady

(Messina)
Now this is a real obscure piece...
This song goes way back in time...recorded sometimes in the mid eighties...one of my very first studio recordings.
Some of you living in South Germany may remember Messina generating quite a buzz in the region back then.
Lady

When she was young a girl so sweet
Surrounded by the fire's heat
She didn't care
She only tried to be free

She walked around a graceful gate
If I would cry she wouldn't wait
She didn't mind
She only tried to be free

She didn't talk she didn't cry
She didn't hear gave no reply
She didn't care
She only tried to be free

I talked to her whispering in her ear
She turned around
My heart stood still
She smiled and said
I'm only trying to be free

She was a lady and I felt so save with her
